NO Obligation
I really like to help others but when it comes to myself I'm not very good at asking for help, and even worse at accepting it. I've been told, however, that part of my growth as a human being requires that I acknowledge my need, express my need, and gratefully (without guilt!!) accept any assistance offered for my need.
My Need:
My Canon 40D is in the shop, and I need to raise £180 to pay for the repairs. I would feel too guilty asking just one friend to pay for this, but if a lot of friends were to pay just a small amount then I'd feel much better about the asking.
I am asking for donations
If you are able to spare just £1, that would help me out a lot.
I've checked it out and "you can use PayPal to send money to anyone with an email address. Whether you're paying back a friend, splitting a bill or sending money to family overseas - PayPal is the answer as it's safe, fast and easy. And in the UK, when you pay someone in the same currency using your bank account or balance, it's free."
1) Go to the paypal website and choose "send money online".
2) Enter the email address of your recipient [gertiedu AT gmail DOT com]
3) Enter the amount
4) Choose GBP British Pounds
5) Click on the tab "Personal" tab and choose either "Gift" or "Personal Payment Owed"
6) Click continue and follow any additional instructions

Expressing my thanks
For those who donate, I'd like to email you a photo of your choosing. Just visit my flickr account, choose something you like (there are thousands of photos to choose from), send me the url of the photo and I will email the image to you.
I know that many people are in a tight spot right now, especially after the holidays, so please remember that there is absolutely NO OBLIGATION to help me on this. I know you are out there cheering for me, and that too is a big help!
Thank You.
